Instituto Politécnico de Santarém – Escola Superior de Educação (ESES)

One of the institutions of the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém, is aimed at the training of teachers (pre-school, primary and lower-secondary school) as well as of other educational agents (socio-cultural animators, social educators and multimedia communication technicians specially focused on the education domain). As an integrant part of the superior education system, its courses are oriented mainly towards the respective practical components (Pedagogical Practicum in case of courses aimed at teaching and Training Period in case of other courses). It also contains several research components that promote reflection, conceptualization and creation of theoretical frameworks that try to frame scientifically its training activity which is divided into three different categories: initial training (bachelor and master degrees and graduation), teachers continual and specialized training, namely through post-graduation courses focused on teachers and non-teachers , especially on pedagogical supervision domains, curricular development and organization, special education, and multimedia education. Besides these permanent training courses, ESES has been cooperating on teachers training programmes in the scope of the cooperation with the Portuguese Language Countries. This wide training activity has enable this institution to develop knowledge and skills as far as conception, organization, implementation, monitoring, supervision and evaluation of the courses aimed at different publics are concerned.
