IP 2010

Intensive Program, Brugges 2010

03/03/2009 09:43

The partnership as applied for a new IP in 2010. Should it be approved it will take place in Belgium an include new partners as well. Here is a small description of what is planned.

The aim of the project is to integrate formal education and non-formal education in the training of social, community and youth (SCY) workers. For this purpose European trainers from NGO’s background will work together with University teachers.

The 4 main objectives of the project are to:

-       Understand better the European Dimension and how it co-relates with SCY Work;

-       Support Intercultural Learning (ICL) as a fundamental process for integration;

-       Encourage the use of Non Formal education (NFE)methods in SCY Work;

-       Promote the use of (new) tools in SCY Work.

The new tools will be introduced and implemented through a multi-disciplinary approach bringing input from ICT and multi-media, marketing and entrepreneurship, disciplines and approaches lesser known and used in SCY Work and adapting them to the Non Formal context. Other kinds of tools are the European Programs (like Youth in Action) that can enable SYC workers to create an Intercultural context for their target groups.

For this purpose, the IP will use formal and non-formal education (simulation games, group building activities, stereotypes and prejudices, the role of CSY workers intercultural groups, etc.). The introduced ICT and multi-media techniques will be implemented further in the program and also make use of peer-to-peer training by forming task groups (movie, blog, exploring interesting links in the Internet) composed of more and less experienced students. The products realised on the spot (and finalised afterwards) will be part of the output of the IP and linked or integrated in this website.

In working groups, students will develop their own Non Formal Intercultural Programs, including applying for Youth in Action and promotion and recruitment strategies.

On top of the input and facilitating of NFE trainers from NGO’s an extra confrontation with practise will be organised trough field visits.
